There is a month when there is rain, month, when the wind blows, and even the month when the crabs are coated beaches.Socotra has more than 800 endemic species of plants and animals. Approximately 50.000 people live on the island - most of the fishermen. There is a small tourism industry, but only 140 Americans came here last year.
"This is about as crowded as it gets," said David Stanton, an American environmentalist who has been studying the Socotra for many years. I asked him why he has so far untouched by tourism?
