Doha - Zubara

Zubara, 100 kilometres from Doha in the North of the peninsula is recognised as one of the most important sites in the country. Until the end of the 19th century, Zubara was the capital of Qatar, and was a dynamic East Arabian trading centre for over hundred years. Zubara fort, part of an 11 kilometre chain of forts, was rebuilt in 1938 as a museum and is now a major tourist attraction.
