Travel Sri Lanka,Little England

Nestled in the shrouded mist of clouds, the colossal pillars emerge as giants, guardians of the earth, watching from the heavens above… Uncover the greatness of the picturesque landscapes of the hill country….
Knuckles Mountain Range
Sri Lanka's most primal mountain range, Knuckles has 27 peaks of over 1,000m with the highest rising to 2,000m. With a rare dwarf cloud forest enveloping the peaks, the primitive wilderness is one of the secluded settlements in the Island, unscathed by modernization. Having a diverse collection from the animal monarchy, trekking through the mountains is a prime eco-tourism experience in Sri Lanka.

Nuwara Eliya
Referred to as the "Little England", Nuwara Eliya is one of Sri Lanka's British Colonial inspired towns. From the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club to the spectacular Victoria Park, the influence of a British enthused hill country is seen all over. With a racecourse existent, it has many exciting trout fishing spots in nearby lakes and rivers. The weather at nights can drop close to an icy temperature, whereby it is not an unusual sight to find many folks huddled around log fires. The Tudor styled houses to the winter clothing of woolly hats and jackets, the town is also known for its fresh vegetable and fruits. Visit the lower slopes of the thickly forested Mt. Pidurutalagala of 2,555m, the Island's highest peak- a great base to for walking and hiking. With stunning surroundings of the country side, a landscape of rich emerald blanket covers the lofty land where you find women, adorned in vibrant colored saris, cleverly plucking the leaves as they skillfully toss them in baskets.

Horton Plains
A plateau over 2,000m in elevation, Horton Plains offers the best trekking locations. With the option to walk around the World's End, where the cliff radically plunges to nearly 1,000m, it offers scenic views of the South. Herds of sambar deer, beautiful lizards and many endemic bird species enhance the Horton Plains experience. Adorned with jaw droopingly striking waterfalls, there are many village settlements patterned around the east plains. Amazing assortments of water sports from canoeing and rock climbing, thrill-seekers are bound to be entertained. Ancient monuments of Ravana rock temples and caves linked by the legend Ramayana, the 2,000 year old Hindu epic and extraordinary rock carvings at Buduruwagala are a recommended visit for those interested in ancient Sri Lankan culture.

Adam's Peak
Known as the Sri Pada, the origin of the name Adam's Peak was sourced by the mysterious footprint shaped indentation at the summit of the mountain. Ministered as a sacred footprint, the entire mountainous area is considered to be sanctified to all Sri Lankans, attracting pilgrims each year. Towering above the surrounding valleys and hills, there are 4,800 steps to be taken whilst hiking to the summit. During the nights, the entire pathway is lit up with glimmering lights which provides a celestial atmosphere for those climbing up the stairs.
